“Pelham Bay Park” by John Burdeaux – New York, NY, USA
Tie for 3rd Place – ReelHeART Short Screenplay Competition
Bio: John Burdeaux lives in New York City with his wife and two children and two cats. He has written four award-winning short screenplays, including the current Pelham Bay Park.
Inspiration For Screenplay: “The script for Pelham Bay Park arose from a particular set of elements, real and imagined, in a particular corner of a park in the Bronx: a disused baseball field, a secluded wooded area that leads to the bay, and the unseen drawbridges that provide access to the surrounding wetlands. The encounter between the two girls is an enigma: an absurd match of wills that is by turns menacing and pointless and seemed somehow right to me for this setting.”
