Bio: Bryan Harlow is from the Philadelphia area and a 14-year US Army veteran with deployments to East and West Africa and the South Pacific.
He has a BA in Psychology from The New School and a Masters in Global Affairs from NYU.
He’s lived all over the country while serving as an Army officer and spent a few months in Cambodia working for a local NGO.
He’s currently working on a 2-year acting conservatory at the Lee Strasberg Institute in NYC and lives with his tattoo-artist spouse, Amalachi, in Brooklyn, New York.
- Inspiration: Burning Virtue came about from a writing contest prompt: Drama/Car Rental Agency/Generator.The images and ingredients necessary for the story swirled in my head over the next 24 hours. There was a low-budget car rental agency run out of a double-wide trailer a mile from JFK airport. There were all the endless expanses of populated nothingness of the American south I had seen in my time in service.There’s the current upheaval of neo-fascism and fundamentalist authoritarianism trying to drag us backward into the darkness.My screnplay is a statement about how we have to commit all or nothing to the fight for the sake of progress, especially since that fight will not be pretty or easy, but it will be necessary. The heroine isn’t an action hero or a charismatic leader; she’s all of US.
