Killers

Bio: Following a successful career as an actress, founding Artistic Director of Abingdon Theatre Company and a published and produced playwright, she is writing for her first love, films. Recent laurels include an official selection for the LGBTQ Unbordered International Film Festival for Texas Homos, a Quarter Finalist spot in Page Turner Screenplays for Killers, “Honorable Mention” at the 2024 Sci-Fi Horror International Film Festival for her script The Bog.

Synopsis: Killers is inspired by an unsolved crime in rural Texas, 1947. The true killer was never found although a suspect was convicted and died in prison. As in the “Son of Sam” killings of 1977, there was strong evidence that others were involved in the killings. The Texas Rangers were “god-like” figures at the time. Their corruption was legendary. The young couple, Jessie and Luke, are products of poverty and lower-class stigma. Their rage and helplessness against their status are mirrored in today’s society.
