Tues-Chicken

‘All Things Chicken’ (28:59min, USA) *Canadian Premiere
dir. Julius Galacki

Two friends for different reasons just can’t seem to move forward in their lives. Raymond is depressed as hell after his last break-up. His friend Dave a real-life “Glenn Quagmire”is that guy that makes your skin crawl if you overhear him talking in a diner. A party-animal cliché. But that’s his armor as he wrestles with his own demons.  It’s an evening of heavy drinking and heavy thoughts all leading to a revelation. It’s Samuel Beckett’s “Waiting for Godot” with a Comet…

Cine-196

-196′ by Anna Arlanova (49:43min Moscow, Russian Federation) *Canadian Premiere

Synopsis: Short on resources but rich in feeling, lapsed physics student Mitya is determined to save the life of his ailing, beloved grandmother. Overriding the uninformed protestations of family members, the devoted grandson goes any lengths to have her cryogenically preserved after her demise, thereby affording her a chance at a new life.

ReelHeART Director Comment: A melancholy, dark and disturbing film with a dramatic thrust that makes you understand and embrace true, unwavering devotion.
