Top 3 Winner – “Tornadic Activity”
Writer Austen Brauker (Onekama, MI USA)

The Story:
A trailer park full of colorful characters are finally fed up with living together and decide that insurance fraud (by faking a tornado!) is the answer to their communal dilemma, not realizing that they have already become a quirky, but hilarious, extended family, and that they all really need each other.

The Inspiration: Tornadic Activity was inspired by the way people who experience natural disasters come together as a community. In this comical group of trailer park residents are numerous stereotypes and reverse stereotypes that represent the different peoples of the world and the funny ways they deal with one another. The story explores what is important about a community and what it means to be a part of that community.
