Bio:

FLR-BestIntentions

Phil is an award winning filmmaker and his short films have shown at festival’s worldwide. In addition to writing, he’s a director, producer, D.P. and editor.

He’s written a number of feature screenplays including Phoebe Langtry, a Jane Austen era period drama and Jack’s Back, a supernatural suspense horror which has recently been optioned.

Inspiration For Screenplay:

Best of Intentions is based on the true story told to me by my father about of a relative of ours, who was going to be dropped behind enemy lines in WWII. He became convinced that he would be killed. So, though newly married and deeply in love, he was unpleasant to his wife, so she wouldn’t grieve when he died. They divorced, but to his surprise he survived the war. They met up again seven years later and remarried.

So I used this story as the basis of my script, but with fictional characters. However all the main events in the screenplay actually happened. e.g Operation Jedburgh, in which three man teams each comprising a British, American and Frenchman were dropped deep inside France, just before D Day, but in uniform. All the incidents in France are based on first hand accounts from British, French and German records.

  1. I’m very thrilled thar ReelHeART have chosen my screenplay for this live script read. I’ll be flying over from the UK for it.

I went to last year’s script reads as I had a film which won in the festival last year. To be honest I wasn’t expecting to be that engaged with the script reads. I’ve worked with actors a lot and heard my scripts read at many auditions.

But hearing Lindsay Waite and Steven Prowse’s scripts last year, I was completely blown away by the experience. It’s just like seeing the film, except that it has huge unlimited budget and the best special effects ever as you create them in your imagination. I was taken a roller caster ride of emotion. Amazing immersive experiences.

So I’m really looking forward to sharing “Best of Intentions” my epic WWII romantic drama with you. It shows the emotional impact of war in incidents seen separately through British, French and German eyes.

..and it still relevant in our view on terrorism today. Did you know that the first ever use of the word terrorist is used by the Germans about the British special forces? …and the British used tactics learnt from the IRA . Both technical and psychological. The spiral of ever increasing violence leading to atrocities.

I spent many, many years researching and writing this, so it’s dear to my heart. It all based on real events. some of which are heartbreaking.

    Hope to see you there.

Looking forward to seeing you again, and can’t wait to discover what you’ve got in store for us with Best of Intentions. Reading your inspiration for the piece, I’m eager to hear your story. 6. Mr. Peel,

I am reading this brilliant script as the narrator. It is rich, funny, sad, historic, and shows very real human reactions to things most of us will never experience. The fact that this is a true story, is mind blowing!! I hope we do your work justice this Thursday – the cast is amazing and I think you are going to be very happy!

    Best,
    Ashley
