Synopsis Tasked with finishing her dead mentor’s last novel, a woman must confront her past in order to defeat The Man in Yellow, a supernatural entity lurking within its pages.
Inspiration The Man in Yellow, or at least the emotion that fuels its heart, comes from a feeling of betrayal. Specifically, the betrayal of a mentor figure seeing the very people they counsel as possessions. It comes from a place both deeply personal and, I expect, widely relatable. This is the reality that grounds the Man in Yellow, even as the supernatural and surreal elements mingle on the page. It is about abandoning hero worship, letting go of taught judgments, and finding the strength to set out on your own path. It’s a story of the abuse of power, in ways both direct and indirect. It’s a supernatural horror, a psychological character study, and an exploration of the deep and long lasting trauma that comes from finding out the people who you trusted to light the way for you were, in fact, leading you further into the shadows.

Bio Conor Gleeson, or C.F. Gleeson, is a screenwriter and filmmaker with a specialty in writing unique, entertaining horror features. Based in Victoria, British Columbia, he has multiple screenplays making their debuts in festivals and competitions worldwide. He has also recently completed the teleplays for a seven part miniseries, “The Town is Gone”.
He is currently writing a variety of scripts and developing multiple short films to produce and direct within the next few years. He is not sure about his choice to use the third person in this paragraph and is just kinda rolling with it.
